SPAM is the name given to electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings. Some estimates are that 90 percent of email traffic is either unsolicited or actual SPAM. In addition to wasting people's time with unwanted e-mail, SPAM also eats up a lot of network bandwith. Consequently, there are many organizations, as well as individuals, who have taken it upon themselves to fight the generation or distribution of SPAM, but because the Internet is public, there is really little that can be done to prevent it, just as it is impossible to prevent junk mail.
There are a number of ways to reduce the amount of SPAM that reaches your computer. We can determine which method meets your specific needs in a cost-effective manner, as well as deploy the appropriate solution.
Terminal Services is the name applied to software from Microsoft that provides a centalized, terminal-based, multiuser environment for Windows servers. Using Microsoft's RDP protocol, which governs keyboard, mouse and screen transfer, a client PC is turned into an input/output (I/O) terminal to the Windows server, which runs any and all applications that might normally be run on a desktop PC. Low-cost, dedicated RDP terminals from various companies can also be used.
Since, in a Terminal Services environment, applications run on a central server, not each local PC, less powerful (and less costly) PCs can support end-users. In addition, management of applications on a central server can be easier than managing multiple copies of applications residing on end-user PCs.
We can help you determine if your company is a good candidate for Terminal Services based on your operations.
